Shaft Adapter & Length Guide

Most of our driver, fairway and hybrid shafts are built to order: we cut the shaft to your length, fit the correct adapter for your head and install a Golf Pride Tour Velvet 360 grip, so it arrives ready to play. This guide explains what we need from you.

1. Tell us your head

Every brand uses its own adapter (sleeve), so we need to know which head the shaft is going into. In the order note box in your cart, add the brand and model, for example TaylorMade Qi10, Titleist GT3 or Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke.

We fit adapters for TaylorMade, Titleist, Callaway, Ping, Cobra, Srixon, Mizuno and PXG heads, in right or left hand. Adapter sleeves are also available separately.

2. Tell us your playing length

Give us the finished playing length you want – the length of the club once the shaft is in your head – for example 45.5 inches for a driver or 43 inches for a 3 wood. If you are not sure, measure your current club (see below) or tell us to match your existing club length.

How the adapter affects length

The adapter adds length to the shaft once it is fitted into the head. As a guide, with an adapter fitted add approximately:

  • 1" – TaylorMade, Titleist, Cobra, Srixon and Ping G400 / G410 / G425
  • 1.25" – Callaway
  • ¾" – older Ping models

You don't need to work this out yourself – just give us the finished playing length you want and we will cut to suit your head.

Measuring your current club

Rest the club in its normal playing position with the sole flat on the ground. Measure from the ground at the heel up along the back of the shaft to the end of the grip cap. That is your playing length.

3. Choose your flex and weight

Each shaft listing shows the flexes and weights we have in stock. You can also shop by flex (Ladies, Senior, Regular, Stiff, Extra Stiff, TX) or by weight from the Shafts menu.

4. Bonded heads

Some heads are bonded (glued) rather than adjustable. These take a shaft glued straight in with no adapter – just let us know the head and length and we will contact you if we need anything else.

Not sure?

If anything in your order is unclear we will contact you before building. Questions are welcome any time – email sales@thegolfbay.com.au.

Custom-built shafts can't be returned unless there's a build error or manufacturing fault.
